Family atmosphere and exceptionally friendly staff and owners will make you feel special. Their menu looks offers many American classics. Everything we tried was great.

This was my first visit to The Blue Owl despite living near by for many years. We had a large group that all selected off of the pick three menu. The food was alright, not earth shattering while also not horrible. The wait staff were all friendly, attentive, courteous, and definitely busy. The desserts were worthy of their turn on the food network. One member of the group had the "Levee high apple pie". This was the only piece left in house today and on sight alone was something of wonder. The enormous helping of pie alone will likely inspire another stop at the Kimswick landmark.

This was our first visit and it was great! I got the "trio" which included a smoked turkey crossiant, white chicken chili, and dessert. Everything was very tasty. You definitely have to get a dessert if you are here; they all look amazing! The restaurant has a cute old fashioned vibe. We'll be back for sure.

Well known eatery, especially for "Mile HIgh" levee pie. Can be hard to get a table, but worth while.

Very good service was excellent. Dessert was fantastic. My only problem was my sandwich was certainly not piled high with ham.

Good food. Menu prices are reasonable. I loved the tropical chicken salad. Be sure to check out the bakery section!

Great country style dining. The wait staff is always incredibly friendly. They serve breakfast from 10-11:30am, but you can also order lunch at any time. They offer you sticky buns with caramel and some type of crushed but that was the size of my face for $4.95. They also offer shipping to certain places in the US: see photos for $10 off your first order code!

Outstanding experience all around. Is there a wait? Sure there is. The strawberry poppyseed salad is my favorite. Try the fried chicken you won’t be disappointed. Save room for the desserts, lots of options. Strawberry Rhubarb is out of this world good.

I've eaten here many times and never been disappointed! The pies are wonderful and so is the food. We've had quiche, soups, sandwiches, salads etc and all has been great!

Amazing town and restaurant to see during the holidays. Easy to walk around this small town. Highly recommend the pie they are known for (apple pecan). Their Baileys pumpkin spice coffee with thick whipped cream is the best.

Great service. Waitress very cordial. The best soup and salad. Strawberry walnut salad with poppy seed dressing. A great resturant . The pie was excellent.

Their food is average but their desserts are awesome. If you go their then don't miss out on at least an ala mode apple pie. Yummm!

Great ambiance, like taking a time machine back into 1930s Americana. The food is excellent and of course the pies are famous.

This was my first time experiencing this bakery. The pie was good, nothing spectacular. The portion size was absolutely ridiculous. For the price you pay, you would expect a bit more than a 1/2 piece.

This place is so unique, it's always beautifully decorated for what season of the year it is. The food is fantastic and the desserts are really good. The menu has a wide selection to choose from. Fun place.

If you have never been here.... what are you waiting for? This iconic restaurant has been serving up the best food since ... forever!! Loved the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Food was amazing. We had the cheddar soup and chicken salad croissant and the southern chicken. The levee high apple pie was delicious.

A group of my family and friends meet here once a year around the holidays for Christmas shopping. We eat here every year and it is always amazing. Service is friendly, atmosphere is comfortable, menu is varied and food is so comfort flavorful. You also have to have a dessert here - at least get it to go if you're too full after the meal! We will continue to come back yearly!

The Blue Owl never disappoints. Even when there is a hour plus wait, the nearby shops are filled with treasures and stories helping the time fly. The "Trio" is the perfect amount of soup, quiche or sandwich so there's room for pie.

Food was cooked like my mother made it. When you walk in the door you will know that you made the right decision. Gracious folks in each portion of the restaurant I stumbled into. Was lucky enough to meet Ms Mary the famous owner I have been reading about each flood season. Put this place on your bucket list if you have never been lucky enough to eat there. Giant portions of each dish, I had country fried steak that was more than I could eat while saving room for apple crumble pie. We are not food critics but the food there is ( slap your grandma) good. I hope to get our Mustang club to break bread together there soon. Thank you for a terrific lunch!

I overheard a woman name Gail speaking to a an unidentified person about the quality and deliciousness of this establishment.

My favorite part is the dessert!! I usually go for the slice if the Levee High Apple pie, warm & a la mode is the best or the two-fer cheesecake stuffed carrot cake with cream cheese icing! Lunch is better than breakfast lately because they seem to get busy so some of the breakfast items taste like they were waiting for you instead of made to order. But bare in mind it’s tea time portions on some items which help you save room for dessert of course!! Worth the trip for your sweet tooth!

It was 50$ for two of us to eat an earlier dinner. It was our first time to the area and neither of had eaten lunch. We were sat to eat in 25-30 minutes. Staff was pleasant, but I didn’t get the fries I ordered until we were already on dessert. After dinner we walked around town, but were only able to visit 3 stores before we were wrecked with watery explosive diarrhea about an hour after eating. Since both of us experienced the same symptoms so quickly after the food, it was likely something we ate or drank at dinner. We did sample each other’s food so it is hard to pin-point. Whether it was the water or the food, will likely not be back to this restaurant.

Always a great meal here. They have indoor seating including a sun room, and an area to hold things like baby showers etc. The desserts are to die for of course, but the food is also delicious. Brunch is so good! The salads, sandwiches, and soups are always tasty. Cute, quaint little place with very reasonable prices.

I have never been there but want to go very badly. I know several people that have and they loved it. Delicious entrees and Mile High coconut cream and banana meringue covered pies and many more great bakery and dessert items.

The best salad I ever have had. The staff were friendly and helpful. The owner and her family run this place in a way that makes it feel like you are part of their circle. The matriarch made it a point to come out and spend some time with us. Felt like an honest and sincere welcome from an old friend. It's obvious that they are truly a caring and sweet dispositioned group of people (who can cook like nobodies business) that I can't wait to see again.

Beautiful setting for such good comfort food. If you leave hungry, its your own fault! Warm staff, even warmer atmosphere. Hope to visit again soon!

The Quiche Lorraine is the best thing ever. And I don't like quiche! All of their baked goods are amazing. Try the Levee-High Apple Pie with caramel pecan topping. It's ridiculous. I have yet to try anything that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed.

The best food i have ever had. The service was amazing, and friendly. Very clean. Can't wait to go back. The mashed potatoes were homemade and mouth watering.

We got little desserts to go. They were ok. Wanted to try the apple pie and just didnt have the time to sit and have it. All the food I saw looked good. the only dessert we had that was good was the vanilla wafer sandwiches. We didnt like any if the others

Very busy, even on a weekday. So many good menu choices. Tried the Trio for a taste of things. Don't forget to get dessert, or grab something to take home! Great service as always, thanks to Mary and her staff!!

The Blue Owl excels in comfort food. They have found their niche. Nestled in the sleepy town of Kimswick Mo, it has become a destination restaurant to enjoy. Leave room for deserts if you can. You won't be disappointed.

Love love loved this place! We will definitely be going back. Mary was a delight, and so were the rest of her employees! They have a gluten free menu and were sure to double check everything I ordered. I had the Lunch Trio and was able to substitute the croissant with gluten free bread. I also had the strawberry salad which is now my absolute favorite salad. I don't usually prefer a lot of dressing on my salad but the poppy seed dressing was so good that I wanted more! And of course, don't forget the dessert!

Very, very overpriced. Not worth it. The food was 'ok' at best.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch while she was in the area for work. We happened to get there just before the large lunch crowd started to roll in. Even still, service was quick, kind, and efficient. The food was amazing. While nothing on the menu seemed over-the-top innovative, my pesto chicken asiago bagel, for example, was one of the tastiest sandwiches I've ever had. My pecan pie was warm and delicious, and I savored every bite. We will be back again!

It was beautiful outside and we sat on the patio/porch and the waitress was right there for us. The food was delicious.

If your sweet tooth can't get fixed here then your out of luck. Soooooo many selections to choose from. Get your pie on!

Wonderful restaurant in a step back in time town with quaint shops and restaurants in Kimmswick. They are famous for their Levee High Apple pie. Reservations are accepted and the restaurant has been featured on the Food Network, The Travel Channel and the Today show among others. The restaurant is open Tues-Fri 10am-3pm, Sat-Sun 10am-5pm and is closed on Mondays. Mary Hostetter established her business in 1983 based on homemade cooking. From that beginning she opened the Blue Owl in 1985 and it is now a favorite of many in the area and many travelers stop to taste the fine food and quaint town. A travelers must see!

Went here for my birthday and had the best time, food was delicious and the pie is amazing, was even so blessed someone footed the entire bill anonymously..God is good all the time all around a wonderful place to take your family and friends and spend a day filled with fun and a great atmosphere.

I so wanted to love this place...but.. My mother and I went for brunch and The service and atmosphere were fantastic, which is where the 3 stars come from. However, our bill was $55, which wouldn't have been a huge deal if we both hadn't just had sandwiches. I had the Patty melt and my mom had the Portobello sandwich. Both were just Okay, which was disappointing because they were $12 each and then an Xtra $3 to add fries. Honestly that's a bit absurd especially for a supremely unremarkable sandwich at 1230 in the afternoon. The carmel apple pecan pie was a sad disappointment and just tasted of bland apple and mostly cinnamon. The death by chocolate was delicious but would've expected a sightly larger portion for$7-8.all in all I was disappointed but might consider trying again in the future.

Went in for breakfast and were very satisfied with the result. The biscuits and gravy had a wonderful unique flavor. A half order is plenty for a side item to split. I got the sausage with my traditional breakfast and the two patties were huge. My wife was not a fan of the coffee and some of the other items in our meal were a bit bland, but overall a good experience.Service was good and parking easy. From other visits to the area during lunch and dinner, I can confirm this place gets very busy. The interior is kind of faux turn of the century frontier.

The restuarant was super cute! The food was pretty good. The pie was DELICIOUS!
